LASTMA APPREHENDS DANGOTE TRUCK DRIVER FOLLOWING SERIOUS HEAD-ON COLLISION WITH COMMERCIAL BUS, LEAVING THREE PASSENGERS CRITICALLY INJURED ALONG LAGOS–BADAGRY EXPRESSWAY.

The Lagos State Government has received with deep concern reports of a serious road traffic collision that occurred at Mosafejo–Aradagun, along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway, involving a Dangote articulated truck and a commercial Mazda bus with registration number FST 946 YK. Preliminary accounts indicate that the incident ensued when the driver of the articulated truck, while attempting to execute a manoeuvre at an unauthorised U-turn point, collided head-on with the oncoming commercial bus. The violent impact resulted in three male passengers sustaining severe injuries while the driver was immediately apprehended by LASTMA. Personnel of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) in synergy with operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), responded with commendable promptitude to the distress situation. * The Oyo State Government, through the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, has pledged to promote the Adeyipo Research and Library Centre as part of its commitment to preserving, documenting and showcasing African heritage to a wider audience. The Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun, made this pledge while receiving the founder of the Centre, Dr. Bayo Adebowale, in his office. He promised to visit the facility alongside the ministry’s management and media teams, assuring that the ministry would support and promote the centre within its capacity. Oyo Govt Directs Early Closure of Offices for Oyo@50 Celebration*

  * The Oyo State Government has approved the early closure of offices across all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to enable public officers to fully participate in the grand finale of activities marking the 50th anniversary of the creation of Oyo State. The directive was conveyed in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Musibau Adetunji Babatunde, on Monday. According to the directive, all state government offices are to close by 12:00 noon on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. The approval was granted by the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, as part of preparations for the golden jubilee celebration tagged Oyo@50. Heads of MDAs have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the directive, while also making adequate arrangements for skeletal services in critical areas where necessary. Babatunde urged that the information to be given the widest publicity to ensure awareness and compliance across the state.

  Towards meeting the energy demands of their ongoing expansion projects, three subsidiaries of Dangote Industries Limited, Dangote Petroleum Refinery, Dangote Fertiliser Plant and Dangote Cement Plc have scaled up their Gas Sales and Purchase Agreements (GSPA) with subsidiaries of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd): Nigerian Gas Marketing Limited and NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company Limited (NGIC). The Chief Executive Officer of Widescope International Logistics Limited, Dr. Segun Musa, has alleged that the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria’s (FAAN) decision to issue an immediate quit notice to the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) is connected to the association’s opposition to a proposed 200 per cent increase in airport operational charges. FAAN, in a letter dated January 2026, directed NAGAFF to vacate its secretariat located at the Hajj and Cargo Terminal of the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Ikeja.  The authority referenced an earlier quit notice issued on April 10, 2025 (Ref: FAAN/MMA/RGM/HCT.A/13/Vol. 9), which it said the association failed to comply with.
