COVID-19 Osun Govt Flags Off Second Phase Of Vaccination

Governor, State of Osun, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola, on Tuesday flagged off the second phase of vaccination against the ravaging coronavirus in the State.
According to Governor Oyetola, the Mordena Vaccine, has been adjudged by experts as very effective for the purpose of building immunity of people of the State against the pandemic.
Speaking at the event in Osogbo, the Governor said about 47,900 new set of people would be vaccinated in the second phase of the exercise.
Oyetola, who was represented by his Deputy, Mr Benedict Alabi, explained that the doses of the new vaccine received by the State had been tested and approved by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control( NAFDAC).
He added that his administration has put in place all measures to ensure effective management of the pandemic since the beginning of its outbreak through effective collaboration with the partner agencies such as Federal Ministry of Health, NAFDAC, W.H.O, UNICEF, among others.
Oyetola, however, enjoined the people to be more vigilant and strictly adhere to all COVID-19 protocols, adding that the virus is still very much around with more severity.
The Governor said: "Vaccination is harmless and without side effects. It boosts our immunity against the Covid-19 virus. I urge you all to get the jabs and observe the protocols.
"As we are all aware, we are in the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, which is called the Delta variant and is noted to accelerate the pandemic, spread more quickly, be more contagious and kill faster and in more massive dimension across the globe than the first two waves.
"We should all know that our first duty to ourselves as citizens is towards ourselves. In the circumstances of the Covid-19, our first duty is to keep ourselves safe so that we can keep our families and neighbours safe and consequently ensure a safe society.
"We must be strictly observant of the protocols by continually wearing nose masks at all times, maintaining physical distancing, avoiding crowded spaces as well washing and sanitising hands with soap and water often".
Speaking at the programme, the representatives of the various partner agencies commended Governor Oyetola for being proactive in the management of the Covid-19 in the state.
