Teachers in Oyo town have expressed support for Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, just as the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun inaugurated the GSM Teachers' Vanguard in the town.
The teachers, numbering over 2, 500, today urged Governor Makinde to be rest assured of their support, assuring him of their unwavering support.
While inaugurating the Vanguard, its initiator, Dr. Olatunbosun said it is aimed at bringing together all associations and groups of teachers to propagate the good works of Governor Seyi Makinde.
"Teachers across Oyo state, comprising of primary and secondary schools are gathered here today to show their Solidarity for Governor Seyi Makinde", Olatunbosun said.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Olatunbosun highlighted laudable every people-oriented programmes of Gov Seyi Makinde in his three years.
The commissioner stated that Gov Makinde has expanded the state economy thru infrastructural development and agriculture entrepreneur.
He disclosed that over two hundred primary health centres have already been completed in wards, while others are near completion.
Olatunbosun added that free and qualitative education has helped improve the rating of the state in National and international examinations.
Dr Olatunbosun called on the teachers to continue to support the present govt in the state and help in propagating the good works of the administration.
The Co-ordinator, GSM Teachers' Vanguard, Oyo Zone, Mr. Tunde Solola, while addressing newsmen in Olivet Baptist High School, Oyo, said they were impressed by the massive development witnessed in the Governor Makinde’s administration.
Solola, who said teachers in the four local councils in Oyo would personally embark on campaigns for Governor Makinde, called on parents to support “the man who knows where the shoe pinches".
The Chairman, Atiba Local Government, commended Governor Seyi Makinde's giant strides in the State, vowing the council's support for the Governor.
The event was attended by some party leaders as well as unions, associations and groups.
Highlight of the event was the inauguration of the vanguard and cultural display by students in the zone.
