The People’s Democratic Party, PDP House of Representatives Candidate for Agege Federal Constituency, Hon. Sola Osolana has pledged to provide the people of the Constituency with effective and qualitative representation if elected in the February 2023 election.

Osolana made this known while flagging off his campaign activities in Lagos Wednesday being the official date for the beginning of campaign for presidential and National legislative elections.

Presenting his speech titled : “Our Convenant with Agege Electorate”, Osolana said “this occasion is not just the usual deceptive and fraudulent campaign theatrics of politicians in Agege and Orile Agege, to always engage in unfulfilled promises at every election season like this and once they succeed in stealing their way to power, they abandon our people.

“Rather, for myself, I will affirm that our event of today is a covenant between our party, the PDP, myself as candidate for the House of Representatives election and the electorate of Agege Federal Constituency. It is a covenant to respect the sanctity of the electoral mandate

that I am formally seeking from the people of Agege Federal Constituency, on the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party. It is a covenant to truly serve our people and create a marked departure from the sordid experiences we have had over the years since 1999 from the elected APC representatives at various levels.

“There is the clear evidence that the people of Agege and Orile Agege have not really benefitted as they should from the elected candidates of the ruling APC. If you look around every corner of our Community you will find few or no federal presence in almost 24 years of voting in six elections the ruling APC.

“That is what I seek to change by coming forward to contest in the 2023 general elections in order for Agege to have true Representation, and I am hereby requesting of our people to please vote my party, the PDP, in the coming elections”.

Osolana pleaded with the people of the Constituency to give him their mandate promising to give the kind of representation that they truly deserve, “which is the representation that would effectively connect our

federal constituency to the national resource distribution and lobby to attract federal government-funded projects to our local communities.

“Our federal constituency require very strong leadership and true representation at this critical period of our national life.

“Judging by what happened during the last Chairmanship Election in Agege when I contested against incumbent Chairman of Agege Local Government, Alhaji Ganiyu Egunjobi and all their bigwigs in the All Progressives Congress, the residents stood for us clearly

but they stole your mandate. They were able to steal the mandate you freely gave because the LASIEC that conducted the election is nothing but an annex of the APC and decided to declare themselves the winner. But that is how far they can go.

“This time around, the general election is beyond the criminal rigging processes of the past. The 2023 elections are within the purview of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and we strongly believe that Agege and Orile Agege will support us yet again wholeheartedly and give us their votes on the election day”.

He promised to embark on an issues based campaign.

His words: “As we prepare to start our campaign across all corners of Agege

and Orile Agege, we shall speak to issues concerning the

development of our constituency and what our party intends to do

for the residents”.

Speaking on his planned programmes for the Federal Constituency, Osolana said his programmes have been well articulated and tailored to address the long time deprivations that the people of the Constituency have suffered .

” I will at all times bring into focus the concerns

and needs of the people of Agege Federal Constituency.

Getting to the National Assembly on your mandate by God’s grace, my programmes will come from two flanks. Through promoting legislations that will address our needs and, through direct personal interventions to support the Great people of my constituency.

“By my legislative responsibilities and instrumentality of the wide government institutions, I will, work with other progressive minded colleagues in the parliament to promote bills that will have direct impact on the general well-being of our people as well as lobby for the citing of federal government-funded projects that can help in advancing the cause of development in our Agege

Constituency.

“Coming to my direct personal intervention agenda I will say that I remain committed to my S.E.E.D.S programmes that I put forward when I contested for the chairmanship of Agege Local Government Council in 2021.

“The S.E.E.D.S programmes as I enunciated them speak to providing the following essential needs for our people:

S – Sound Primary Health Services

E – Educational support.

E – Empowerment of Youths and Women

D – Developmental support initiative for maintenance of our neighborhood infrastructural facilities.

S – Sports Talent and Social Development”.On
