We Will Protect Your Business Interest-Lagos PDP Guber Candidate, Adediran Assures Ndigbos, Others
People from the South Eastern part of Nigeria and non-Yoruba speaking residents of the state have been given an assurance that their businesses would be protected by Peoples Democratic Party-led government in Lagos State.
The Governorship Candidate of the PDP in the state, Dr. AbdulAzeez Olajide Adediran aka Jandor stated this at the palace of Eze Ndigbo of Ori Ade LCDA in Amuwo Odofin, HRH, Chief Emmanuel Akalika, on Thursday October 27, 2022.
Adediran, who is taking his campaign across the 245 wards in the state in company with his Deputy, Ms. Funke Akindele, told the gathering that the PDP would have gone into extinction in Lagos State if not for their support.
"Your support for the PDP means you share the yearnings of we the indigenes of the state. You have always shown your expression through the ballot.
"I will protect your business interest if elected I am elected into office in 2023. Time has come for you to realise your dreams. It is when one understands the contributions of people like you that he will not oppress you.
"You have someone before you that will treat you very well as Governor. We have been having a government that does not see you as one of them. If you see Lagos as a business and you run it like this, how will it turn out to be.
"With me and Funke Akindele, you will have a Government that will come with empathy and do what will boost your economy.
"We will birth a state that will be wealthy in truth and not rich on paper. That was why we said we will visit all the wards in the state and not a government that you just see on paper," he said.
He told the audience that they had a choice to choose between a government that will bring a breath of fresh air and the one that will maintain the status quo.
The governorship candidate stated that he is from Badagry Division and that he could not be the governor and the roads in the area would be bad.
He said: "You will have a governor that we all know and not a place holder.
"We have only had one governor in Lagos State for 23 years. I am going to be an independent Governor and I chose my Deputy myself. I have no "baba" (godfather) somewhere. So, we need to do away with this puppet kind of governor."
In his response, Eze Emmanuel Akalika
prayed that Adediran would realise his ambition, adding that "God knows that Nigerians have suffered because of embezzlement and people who get into office and forget the masses."
Akalika stressed that there are so many agitations in the country such as BIAFRA because of the situation of things in the country.
"I have heard about Jandor for a long time, but I have not seen you before. It's good we pick the best this time around.
"Mr. Jimi Agbaje was here in 2015, but we don't know what happened later. I pray that no evil will happen to you and God will continue to protect you.
"We need a new Nigeria that everybody would be proud of. I have nine children, some of them are graduates, but I still feed them because of unemployment in the country," he said.
Jandor later visited some other wards in the area, including those in the riverine area, while Funke Akindele went to the markets in the community to sensitize traders about the programmes of the party for the state.
