The Council comprises representatives of all forum existing in the party including serving and former political office holders in the state.
In his inauguration speech, the State Chairman of APC, Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi, said the council should concentrate on issues that would add value to the success of the party in 2023, saying the members should be resolute, committed and law abiding throughout the assignment.
Ojelabi announced Senator Ganiyu Solomon as Director General of the Council while Ogbooni Fuad Oki appointed Secretary.
He mentioned Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Babafemi Hamzat as Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Council respectively.
Ojelabi said that their nomination to serve was based on their knowledge and ability in campaign strategy and election management, adding that the success of the elections rests on the effectiveness of the council.
Speaking further, he said the membership was carefully selected and approved by the party's highest decision making body, adding that the task before the council was enormous but achievable.
The APC Chairman said " Let me assure our members and other critical stakeholders who are listed, that we will try as much as possible to accommodate all stakeholders in the subcommittee, since we cannot accommodate everyone in the main campaign committee.
" The Election Management Committee will be assisted by eleven (16) Directorates; namely secretariat; Planning, Research and Strategy, Budget and Finance, Mobilisation, Transport and Logistics, Strategy, Organising as well as Special Duties. The divisions, subdivisions and assignment of responsibilities will be made in to you by the Director General. Your role is to execute this election management with and aid from the party state secretariat".
Meanwhile, the Director General of the campaign council, Sen. Ganiyu Solomon, who spoke on behalf of the council, said that they were confident of the Governor's record upon which the party hope to ride to victory in 2023.
Solomon added that the Council would not take anything for granted to ensure victory at polls, adding that Lagosinas were not ingrates and would never repay good with evil.
He said " We are though confident of our record upon which we hope to ride to victory in March 2023, nevertheless, it is not in our character to take anything for granted. Particularly noteworthy is the fact that Lagosians are not ingrates and would never repay good withevil.Theynotonly see what our government of APC under Governor Sanwo-Olu, has done and still doing; they can feel them as well.
" Besides, it is not by error that we are identified as the progressives. We are known to plan, strategise and build sufficient safety into our assumptions, just so there is always an ace to fall back on, whenever the battle gets tougher. Regardless, politics, for us, is not a do-or-die affair".
Solomon said that members of the campaign council were up to the task and that they were confident of delivering victory to the party in 2023.
" Without sounding overly arrogant, overconfident or immodest, our governor and party do nothaveany serious challenger in next year's election in the state, if record and antecedents were to play a major role. This is not playing to the gallery. Yet, we will take nothing for granted and approach the election as if it's the oxygen we breathe. This is a promise", said Solomon.
