KOGI GUBER:ODODO WILL CONTINUE FROM WHERE YAHAYA BELLO STOP SAYS FANWO
The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the upcoming Kogi gubernatorial elections, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo is tipped for impressive victory over the other contestants. This is going by the intense work that is going into the electoral campaign by the man himself and his campaign team. Alhaji Ododo who visited the Governor of Lagos state, Gov. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and other Stakeholders over the weekend in Lagos affirmed that he is ready to continue the giant strides of the current Governor of Kogi state, Alh. Yahaya Bello. The Honorable Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Kingsley Femi Fanwo who spoke on behalf of the APC candidate in the Kogi guber polls with the Pressmen at a stakeholders meeting of Kogi Community in Lagos revealed: ‘Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo is out to consolidate on the achievement of the outgoing government of the state. Being someone that is a product of the system in the past 7 years, it is believed that as a technocrat he has gathered enough experience to be able to ensure continuity for Alh. Yahaya Bello.’ ‘Our candidate is working hard, we are not arrogant, we are the government in power but we are working the hardest among all the parties because we know that all power belongs to God and He gives it to humans’, he told Trek Africa Newspaper. On the rumored familial relationship between Ododo and Bello, the Commissioner of Information deemed it as false. He said: ‘It is unfortunate and unintelligible to peddle this sentiment because Ododo and Yahaya Bello are not even from the same constituency – one is from Okene 1, the other is from Okene 2 – they are not cousins, they are not blood relations but in politics, people peddle sentiments.’ About the candidacy of PDP’s Dino Melaye, he told Trek Africa Newspaper, ‘we have continued to beat him since 2015 and he is going to be thoroughly defeated. Most of the state executives and bigwigs of the PDP are leaving the party and they are expressing their displeasure. Dino Melaye has never won a free and fair election. We have been rejoicing since he emerged, we will defeat him again. For the candidate of the APC who lost and decamped to SDP, when you are desperate, you can do anything but I wish him well. But I know after he is defeated, he will return home.’ Honorable Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kogi State, Hon. Kingsley Femi Fanwo A women advocacy forum, Evolving Women in Politics (EWIP), is drumming support for Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo to emerge as Governor of Kogi state. At the same time, the women’s group told Trek Africa Newspaper that the governorship candidate should ensure affirmative action for women and youths when he becomes the Kogi State Governor later this year. The National President, Evolving Women in Politics (EWIP), Hajia Fatima Bello said: ‘We are looking forward to women being his priority. We want 35% in government for women and youths. We are appealing to women to get involved in politics. We pray for our candidate that God will give him wisdom.’ The Vice President, Evolving Women in Politics (EWIP), Hajia Raliat Abdulsalam noted about Usman Ododo, ‘The man is ready to interact. He wants to start his administration with all hands on deck. The incumbent Governor has opened the door for women, we want the new government to give us a seat on the table not as figurehead but to be part of governance. Whatever we want or do will be listened to properly not just to get appointment.’ On her part, Princess Raliat Oyetunde said: ‘We are very happy and opportune to receive the candidate of the APC in Kogi governorship election in person of Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo. We are proud that Alh. Yahaya Bello found him worthy to move Kogi forward. My advice is for him to carry everybody along. All the ethnic groups in Kogi will have to do it together. It is a joint
