A patriotism-focused civil society organization Patriotism Awareness Forum (PAF), has commiserated with the government and people of Nigeria over the painful and unfortunate death of 22 galant military personnel in the course of the war against bandits in Niger State.

In a statement issued in Lagos on 27th of August 2023 and jointly signed by the Convener and Co-Convener Nelson Ekujumi and Peter Claver Oparah, the group stated that, "We are deeply saddened by this national loss of 22 patriotic and gallant officers and men of the Nigerian military who paid the supreme price with their lives as sacrifice for fatherland".

The group expressed it's heartfelt condolences to the immediate and extended families, colleagues, friends and associates of the fallen heroes as well as Mr President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Chief of Defense Staff, the Chief of Army Staff, the Chief of Air Staff and the generality of the Nigerian people over this tragic incident in the course of national duty.

PAF used the occasion of the press Statement to call on Mr President, the military establishment and the generality of the Nigerian people to take solace in the fact that the fallen heroes were gallant in their patriotic service to fatherland by paying the supreme price and not allow this temporary setback dampen and derail the morale of the government and the security agencies in the discharge of their statutory responsibility and avowed commitment to the safety and security of lives and properties at all times against internal and external threats.

PAF prayed for the repose of the souls of the fallen heroes, and  that the Almighty God  grant them eternal rest, just as it charged the military to go all out in the discharge of their functions against bandits, terrorists and criminals, so that the sacrifices of the fallen and gallant heroes, will not be in vain.
