OYSCOHEST MANAGEMENT REFUTES FALSE ALLEGATIONS BY ANONYMOUS STUDENT, AGAINST THE COLLEGE AND MLT HOD ON TWITTER.

The attention  of the Management of Oyo State College of Health Science and Technology, Eleyele, Ibadan has been drawn to  various false allegations  levelled against the Head of Department Medical Laboratory Science, Mrs Rukayat Omolola Arikewuyo and the College Management by an anonymous student on her Twitter handle, describing  the allegations as blatant lies, falsehood and mere fabrication meant to bring the College to disrepute and tarnish the  image of the concerned HOD.

This is contained  in a statement issued in Ibadan on behalf of the College Management by the Public Relations Officer of the College, Mr Sola Samuel Ojewole, made available to newsmen.

The statement said there was never a time bullying  had occurred  as  students are neither victimized  nor oppressed by any Academic or non Academic Staff of the College especially the Medical Laboratory Department.

The statement equally  condemned the allegation that the HOD,  Mrs Rukayat Omolola Arikewiyo  was beating students of her Department describing it as mere fabrication without any iota of truth.

The College is a tertiary institution,  one wonders how students of a tertiary institution will be subjected to such treatment when they are not babies.

On extortion, the statement noted that no Head of Department is extorting any student in the College,  as all fees are paid into the designated College accounts.

It added that no Student  can ever be punished for not contributing to any HOD's birthday or disallowed from receiving lectures or writing examinations except for failure to pay their fees and not meeting up to the 75% attendance as stipulated in the Students' code of conduct handbook.

It is also worthy of note that no student was expelled by the said HOD at any time, because no HOD has such power. The College has a functioning Students' Disciplinary Committee in place to handle all cases of misconduct and a grievance procedure  to report allegations by students.

The statement also described the allegations of having no classrooms and no lecturers as baseless as His Excellency,  the Executive Governor of Oyo State just gave approval for the recruitment of lecturers in the College and the department alone got additional three lecturers that resumed work in June, 2023, bringing the number of permanent lecturers in the department to six in addition to contract and part time lecturers.

Lectures for the semester commenced since September and there is no such thing as the students not having classes at all this semester.

On the issue of the Head of Department not allowing the students not to pray and abusing their God, this is also a fallacy as the HOD is also a practising Muslim.

All the allegations are spurious and ridiculous and there was never a time when any report was made to the College Provost by any student of the department as alleged by the anonymous student.

The statement called on members of the  members of the public  to disregard  the Twitter message noting with delight that the 90 year-old College is known for academic excellence and integrity.

Reacting to this malicious post by the  faceless student, the Student Affairs' Officer of  the College, Mr Amos Taiwo Ojewale and the President of the  Students' Union Government,  Comrade Tolase Fadare described the allegations against the MLT HOD as unfortunate and an embarrassment to the Students' body, having no element of truth but meant to discredit the College.
