A delegation from the Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society (NASFAT) Youth leadership paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Mobolaji Abubakre Ogunlende, the Lagos State Commissioner for Youth & Social Development, at his Alausa Secretariat office in Ikeja. The team was led by NASFAT National Public Relations Secretary Alhaji Shamsideen Owolabi Oseni and included notable members such as Mr. Alebiosu Sulaimon (Youth Treasurer Secretary), Mr. Agboola AbdRahmon (Headquarters Coordinator), Mr. Khalid Adeyemo, Mr. George Ibrahim (Lagos Zone 2 In-house Secretary), and Ms. Salaudeen Nofisat (Headquarters Amira).
Commissioner Ogunlende expressed his pleasure in receiving the delegation and surprised them by revealing that he has been a dedicated member of NASFAT from the Eti-Osa branch since 2001. This revelation set a positive tone for the discussions that followed.
The key agenda items discussed included the registration of the NASFAT Youth Wing with the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, collaboration on empowerment opportunities, and preparations for major events such as NASGA 2025, NYC 2025 in Port Novo, and NASFAT’s upcoming 30th anniversary celebrations.
Ogunlende assured the youth leaders that the Lagos State Ministry of Youth Development is open to partnering with various youth associations across the state, irrespective of their political or religious affiliations. He directed the Senior Special Assistant on Social Development to the Governor, Comrade Olalekan Bikiamin Oba, to assist in registering the NASFAT Youth Wing, which would facilitate access to ministry functions and empowerment programs.
While the ministry may not provide direct financial support, Ogunlende emphasized that they would actively engage in programs and initiatives. He encouraged the NASFAT youth to invite him to their events as a guest lecturer whenever possible.
The meeting concluded with the presentation of NYC Kano 2024 souvenirs and group photographs, fostering a spirit of collaboration. The NASFAT delegation commended Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s T.H.E.M.E.S. Plus agenda, praising its impact on youth development in Lagos State and recognizing the efforts of Alhaji Ayodeji AbdulWahid AbdulRauf in leading NASFAT and Imam Maroofdeen Abdul-Azeez Onike’s spiritual guidance within the society.
