Dullar Gives 50 Million Naria To 1000 Traders In Somolu

 


Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu, popularly known as "Dullar," the Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government Area, has reaffirmed his administration's dedication to uplifting and supporting the less privileged in the community. He made this statement during the fifth phase of the cash palliatives program, where N50 million was distributed to 1,000 petty traders on Thursday, October 23, 2024, to aid in the growth of their businesses and contribute to the national economy.


Hon. Salawu emphasized that the financial assistance program was a promise made to the people, aimed at driving economic growth and improving the lives of families in Somolu. He stressed that the initiative goes beyond financial aid, offering traders the opportunity to build their businesses, support their families, and pursue their dreams.


“It fills my heart with joy to stand before you today. We are here for something very special—an opportunity to further uplift our community and support those who work tirelessly every day. In this fifth phase of our cash palliatives program, we are distributing N50 million to 1,000 of our hardworking petty traders. This is not just about money, but about giving you the chance to continue building your businesses, supporting your families, and pursuing your dreams," Salawu stated.


He highlighted that in previous phases, N110 million was distributed to 4,000 residents, and the impact of the program has been evident in the growth of businesses and the hope it has brought to families. The chairman further outlined several ongoing projects under his administration, including interlocking roads, solar-powered streetlights, the Somolu Legislative Complex, the Somolu Fire Service Station, the Wright Primary Healthcare Center, Wesley Primary School, Bashua Police Station, and the new Somolu Local Government Administrative Complex.


"Our recent achievements in infrastructure reflect our commitment to growth. Soon, we will commission several key projects that will serve this community for many years to come," he noted, highlighting the new administrative complex, which will feature a state-of-the-art ICT Innovation Lab and an ultramodern multipurpose hall.


Hon. Salawu also commended the economic reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that the efforts are aimed at long-term national benefits. He called for patience and cooperation from Nigerians as these reforms take shape.


He praised Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for his leadership and for understanding the needs of Lagosians through impactful projects and programs.


In remarks, Hon. Rasak Tajudeen, the Special Adviser to the Chairman on market matters, lauded Hon. Salawu for his dedication and consistent support for the people of Somolu over his seven years in office. He highlighted how the chairman's initiatives have positively impacted families, particularly market traders, throughout his tenure.


Several beneficiaries expressed their gratitude and offered prayers for the chairman, assuring him of their support for any future political aspirations he may have.


The event was attended by several dignitaries, including former council chairmen, vice-chairmen, legislative council members, religious leaders, and political figures. The presentation of N50,000 to each of the 1,000 beneficiaries was overseen by Comrade Ishaq Buna, who led the Human Right Monitoring Agenda (HURMA).
