Ikosi-Isheri Ketu Magodo Celebrate It's Annual Cultural Carnival


 


The Ikosi-Isheri Ketu Magodo community celebrated its Annual cultural carnival with the theme *"Our Heritage, Our Pride: A Celebration of Culture and Unity,"* held at the CMD Event Centre in Magodo.


In her remarks, the First Lady of Lagos State, Her Excellency Dr. (Mrs.) Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, expressed her appreciation to the council chairman for organizing this carnival. She emphasized the importance of such events in fostering unity among the people of Ikosi-Isheri and promoting cultural heritage. She encouraged parents to view the carnival as an opportunity to bring their children together, nurturing the leaders of tomorrow.



In her welcome address, the Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, highlighted the significance of the event: “We are here not only to celebrate our cultural heritage but also to embrace the diversity that strengthens our community. Our culture is our identity, and through this carnival, we ensure that it is preserved, promoted, and passed down to future generations.”



The council chairman further noted that, this year, they proudly offered free trade stands to local vendors and entrepreneurs as part of their commitment to boosting the local economy and providing economic relief to the community. “These initiatives are designed to support small businesses, foster innovation, and reduce poverty within our community, ensuring that the carnival brings tangible benefits to everyone,” she added.




She also shared that the carnival was organized without the use of government funds, as they successfully secured full sponsorship through partnerships with corporate sponsors and agencies. This, she said, demonstrates that communities can be uplifted through strategic collaboration, rather than public funds. She took the opportunity to express gratitude to the First Lady, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, who graciously serves as the face of this year’s carnival. “Her commitment to promoting culture, community empowerment, and social cohesion continues to inspire us all. Her presence here today is a testament to her dedication to the values that unite us, and we are deeply grateful for her support.”



In a goodwill message, Hon. Femi Saheed, Chairman of the House Committee on Finance in the Lagos State Assembly, praised the carnival as a proud reflection of Ikosi-Isheri’s identity and as an opportunity to showcase the community's cultural heritage to the world.
